The combined net profit of banks operating in Georgia reached GEL 1.89 billion in the first six months of 2026, according to financial results submitted to the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
Compared with the same period last year, the sector's profit increased by GEL 320 million, representing an annual growth of 21%.
Of the 19 commercial banks operating in the country, 15 reported profits, while 4 recorded losses.
Bank of Georgia remained the most profitable bank, earning GEL 967 million, up 23% year over year. TBC Bank ranked second with GEL 684 million in profit, reflecting a 15% annual increase. Basisbank placed third with GEL 74 million, marking a 44% increase compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, Liberty Bank reported a 14% decline in profit, earning GEL 53 million during the period.
The four loss-making banks were Paysera Bank, Hasha Bank, Silk Bank, and VTB Bank Georgia. The largest loss was reported by VTB Bank Georgia, which recorded a GEL 15 million loss during the January–June 2026 period.
