In 2025, Georgia’s “Plant the Future” agricultural program concluded the year with 566 signed contracts, outlining a total of GEL 53.5 million in planned investments. The data appears in the 2025 employment policy report prepared by the Ministry of Health, summarizing activities across various agencies.

Implemented by the Rural Development Agency, the program supported farmers in establishing perennial orchards, berry plantations and nurseries through state co-financing. Since its launch in 2015, it operated across four main components.

According to the report, 505 unique beneficiaries received the 566 contracts, covering 2,780.5 hectares in total. Of the GEL 53.5 million planned investment, the state contributed GEL 23.8 million. Key results include:

Orchards:

• 489 contracts for 2,407.2 ha
• Total investment: GEL 49.2 million
• State co-financing: GEL 22.35 million

Hail protection systems:

• 14 contracts for 51.6 ha
• Total investment: GEL 2.29 million
• State co-financing: GEl 526,753

Drip irrigation systems:

• 22 contracts for 105.9 ha
• Total investment: GEL 543,259
• State co-financing: GEL 245,310

Wells and pumping stations:

• 41 contracts (covering 215.8 ha)
• Total investment: GEL 1.42 million
• State co-financing: GEL 668,981

Starting July 1, ongoing agricultural programs—including “Plant the Future”—will be replaced by a new state initiative. Under the redesigned Agro-Co-Financing Program, applications will first be evaluated by the Ministry of Agriculture instead of commercial banks, marking a significant shift in project assessment procedures.
