Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, met with Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Shuleiko during an official visit to Belarus, where the sides discussed expanding bilateral trade and cooperation in the agri-food sector.
According to the Georgian Ministry, the meeting focused on strengthening economic relations and developing agricultural trade between the two countries.
Songulashvili said there is significant potential to deepen cooperation, highlighting opportunities for Belarusian dairy and dairy product exports to Georgia, as well as Georgian wine and other agricultural products entering the Belarusian market. He also emphasized cooperation in environmental protection and forestry management.
Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Shuleiko described the reactivation of the intergovernmental economic cooperation commission as an important step, noting that Belarus places particular emphasis on structured and transparent trade relations.
He said one of the discussed areas included supplies of raw materials for wine and brandy production, including grape spirit, as part of bilateral trade exchange.
The meeting was attended by Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, Head of the National Food Agency Giorgi Iakobashvili, Head of the National Wine Agency Levan Mekhuzla, and Georgia’s Ambassador to Belarus Giorgi Saganelidze.
