The President of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), Natia Turnava, announced that 78% of cases reviewed by the NBG’s Dispute Resolution Commission in 2025 were resolved in favor of consumers. She presented this information during the parliamentary hearing of the NBG’s 2025 annual report at the Finance and Budget Committee.

According to Turnava, the commission plays a key role in protecting the rights of payment service users. In 2025, the commission received 158 complaints, of which 111 were admitted for review, with a total dispute value exceeding 1 million GEL. She added that the amount already reimbursed to consumers has reached 412,000 GEL.

Turnava also highlighted recent legislative amendments that increased the maximum value of disputes eligible for review. The dispute limit was raised from 50,000 GEL to 100,000 GEL, significantly expanding consumer protection mechanisms.

The Dispute Resolution Commission, established in 2023, had been authorized to review disputes up to 50,000 GEL until the end of 2025. The new higher limit is now in force.
