“The campaign against the Eagle Hills project was orchestrated by a single hand, the very same hand that previously directed revolutionary efforts. At first, they introduced Lelo onto the scene, launching a campaign against this unprecedented and impeccable investment. Gradually, they pushed Lelo aside and handed the campaign over to organisations like Alt Info, the Alliance of Patriots, and the youth wing of the UNM, these dark forces,” GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
According to Kobakhidze, there are virtually no genuine concerns regarding this project; therefore, it will proceed.
“Coordination appears to be the simple answer here. They cannot prevent the project’s implementation. All they aimed for was to cast the project, which is truly unprecedented and could significantly contribute to our country’s economic development, in a negative light. To some extent, they succeeded; the entire campaign was aimed at this. Everything was financed and supported from outside.
However, they will not succeed; the project will go ahead. Our economy will be enriched by GEL 11 billion, and boosting the Georgian economy means spreading this prosperity to the wider society. You can judge for yourselves what adding GEL 11 billion to a GEL 100 billion economy, through just one project, really signifies. The campaign has already failed; everyone has realised that there is no Arabisation happening. We have demonstrated complete transparency on this matter, including extensive discussions in Parliament. One of the radical opposition members was even unable to ask questions. There are virtually no real concerns regarding this project. Accordingly, it will be implemented.
A further GEL 11 billion will be injected into our economy, averaging approximately GEL 700 million annually into our budget, all of which will be reinvested into society. A larger, more robust budget means more social programmes, more infrastructure development,” Kobakhidze concluded.
