On September 30, Armenia’s capital became home to the world’s largest Iranian trade center, marking a new phase in the development of economic relations between the two countries.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, including Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Attabak.
Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, emphasized the symbolic significance of the center as a testament to the strong friendship between the two countries. He highlighted the significant growth in trade in recent years and expressed hope that the new center would serve as a catalyst for further economic cooperation.
Armenia’s Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, reported impressive growth in bilateral trade, reaching $700 million, and set an ambitious goal of increasing this figure to $3 billion. He underscored that Iran is not just a neighboring country but a friendly state for Armenia, and the new center will unlock the potential for further collaboration.
Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mohammad Atabak, expressed his country’s interest in strengthening relations with its neighbors, particularly Armenia. He also noted Armenia’s strategic importance as a potential gateway to the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union.
