The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved a draft Agreement on the creation of a unified search service for industrial property objects protected in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The document has been sent to the governments of member states for domestic approval.
According to the draft, the plan is to create an information resource that will include data on trademarks, service marks, appellations of origin, and geographical indications registered in the EAEU countries.
EEC Minister for Economy and Financial Policy Bakhyt Sultanov highlighted the importance of the new service: "The launch of the unified search service will provide ‘one-stop’ access to information on industrial property objects registered in the EAEU countries. The service will be available remotely and free of charge, offering enhanced search capabilities with various criteria and filters."
It is expected that the creation of this search service within the EAEU will reduce both time and financial costs when requesting information. Additionally, it will help market participants develop more effective marketing strategies.
The draft Agreement was developed as part of the implementation of the 2025 Strategy, approved by the Commission’s Council in 2021.
