Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Tuesday, said the three domestic international airports had served over three million passengers over the last six months, calling the numbers an “all-time high”.
Kvrivishvili also noted over two million tourist visits had been recorded in the country in the first two quarters of the year, marking a 10 percent increase over the same period of 2023.
"Tourist visits are increasing both from EU countries and from the Persian Gulf and new tourist markets - India and China. In the same period, Georgian airports served 3,220,599 passengers with regular and non-regular flights, which is 30 percent more than the number of passengers received in the same period in 2023”, she said.
“We implemented many successful projects, as a result of which we introduced new airlines to Georgia. Active marketing campaigns are underway to promote Georgia on international markets, which has a positive effect on both the growth of tourist flows and the passenger flow”, the official added.
Between January and June, 183,355 international visits from EU countries and the United Kingdom were recorded in the country, marking a 10 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In the first six months of the year, a total of 14,682 flights were performed through airports of Georgia.
