The Minister of Agriculture and Environment Protection, Davit Songulashvili, attended the presentation of Georgian Amelioration LLC’s 2025 annual report, which outlined the company’s major projects, systemic reforms, and achievements.

Minister Songulashvili praised the company’s staff for their work in 2025 and stressed the importance of well-functioning irrigation systems as a cornerstone of agricultural development. “If we want agricultural development, we must understand that one of its fundamental pillars is efficient irrigation. We are fully ready to provide maximum support at both the legislative and government levels to meet the country’s needs through budget allocation and practical steps,” he said.

In 2025, Georgian Amelioration improved irrigation and drainage efficiency, carried out rehabilitation and cleaning of strategic canals and structures, modernised the technical base, and strengthened regional operations, positively impacting agriculture and local employment. The company also reorganised its inspection service, established an information and training centre, created an interactive map, updated its branding, and introduced new irrigation tariffs after a 14-year pause. Contracted agricultural land grew from 60,440 hectares to 74,000 hectares.

Looking ahead to 2026, the company plans to rehabilitate irrigation and drainage systems, construct and modernise reservoirs, implement a climate-smart irrigation programme, introduce billing and SCADA monitoring systems, and establish regional offices and customer-oriented service centres.
