Davit Songulashvili, Minister of Environment and Agriculture, addressed recent social media claims regarding the management of stray dogs. He stated that Georgia’s humane animal population control program has been successfully operating for a year, balancing animal welfare with public safety.
Songulashvili denied claims that dogs were taken to Gori’s shelter for incineration, emphasizing that no animals from the regions were transferred there. He also criticized politically motivated campaigns spreading misinformation to provoke public sentiment.
“All accusations, threats, or defamation against professionals performing their duties will be thoroughly investigated, and those involved in deliberate misinformation will be held accountable,” he said.
