Georgia’s agricultural sector is developing steadily, according to Environment Protection and Agriculture Minister Davit Songulashvili. Speaking at “Farmer’s Day 2026,” he said the sector’s growth is supported by the work of farmers and agribusinesses, as well as continued government support programs.
Songulashvili noted that agricultural and food products now account for half of Georgia’s top 10 export products. According to the ministry, agribusiness output has increased by an average of 8% annually since the launch of state support programs. Last year, Georgia exported a record $1.8 billion worth of agricultural and food products to 110 countries.
The minister said the government’s goal is to further develop the country’s agricultural potential, strengthen the sector’s competitiveness and expand the position of Georgian products on international markets. The “Farmer’s Day 2026” event, hosted by the Tbilisi Open Air Museum of Ethnography, brought together farmers and agribusiness representatives to showcase local products and discuss available agricultural services and support mechanisms.
The event also featured culinary masterclasses, educational and entertainment activities for children, and an awards ceremony recognizing farmers and agribusiness representatives for their contribution to the development of Georgia’s agricultural sector. The event was organized by the Rural Development Agency at the initiative of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
