The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is preparing to expand its investment portfolio in Georgia, prioritizing enhanced regional connectivity and major energy initiatives. Following a meeting with the bank’s representatives, Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili confirmed that AIIB is ready to increase its financial engagement in projects of strategic importance.
According to the minister, the two sides reviewed both ongoing and planned projects in which AIIB is already actively involved. He emphasized that a key focus will be strengthening Georgia’s role along the Middle Corridor - including road, rail, maritime, and air infrastructure.
Khutsishvili added that beyond connectivity, AIIB has expressed strong interest in supporting investments in Georgia’s energy sector. This aligns with the country’s broader goals of improving energy security and expanding renewable capacities.
The minister noted that a special AIIB mission will visit Georgia in the near future to outline a detailed investment portfolio and identify the specific projects the bank will finance.
