Air cargo transportation in Georgia saw a significant surge in the first half of 2025, with a 50% year-on-year increase, according to data released by the Ministry of Economy.
From January to June, a total of 16,551 tons of cargo were transported by air, compared to the same period in 2024. This sharp rise highlights growing demand in Georgia’s freight sector and builds on a trend of increasing cargo volumes in recent years.
The country also recorded a notable increase in air freight in 2024. According to the Civil Aviation Agency, over 25,000 tons of cargo were transported by air last year, 25% more than in 2023, marking the highest volume of air cargo handled since 2017.
Currently, Tbilisi International Airport is the only airport in Georgia equipped with a cargo terminal, making it the sole hub for all air freight operations in the country.
The sustained growth in cargo transportation underscores Georgia’s strategic importance as a logistics and transit point in the region.
