Almost 32 billion GEL will be spent on infrastructure and regional development in the coming 10 years. It was announced by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia at the presentation of the 10-Year Development Plan of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI).

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, 32 billion GEL will be used for infrastructure, roads, bridges and water supply to make sure that situation gets changed in every municipality. Prime Minister of Georgia noted that it should be a plan of Europeanisation and modernization, thereby expressing his gratitude to donors for their active support towards this end.

"In line with our plan, 32 billion GEL will be spent on infrastructure and regional development in the coming 10 years. You may well be aware that a lot of projects are implemented in the country nowadays. They envisage the construction of roads and bridges. In general, we launched urban renovation projects in all 63 municipalities, which in real sense leads to European development and injection of European spirit in every municipality.

In addition, you may well agree that challenges remain in the country. Almost 3000 villages have no quality water supply. Maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction of intercity and local roads remain as a challenge, along with the completion of construction at the central highways. Thus, our main priority and focus should be made on regional development and renovation in the coming years. 32 billion GEL will be used for regional development, infrastructure, roads, bridges, water supply to make sure that situation gets changed in every municipality nation-wide and in real sense. It should be a plan of Europeanisation, renovation and modernization. Of course, we are actively cooperating with our donors. I wish to once again use this opportunity and thank them for their active support and assistance" concluded Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia.

A 10-Year Development Plan was presented by Irakli Karseladze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. Event was attended by members of the executive and legislative authorities of the country, governors, diplomatic corps and officials of the international financial institutions (IFIs).
