The Anaklia Deep Sea Port project has entered an active construction phase, making its scale increasingly clear, Deputy Economy Minister Tamar Ioseliani said.

According to the Ministry of Economy, two dredging vessels are now operating in the port’s waters. They are deepening the seabed while construction of the breakwater is also underway.

Ioseliani said the port will create a new reality for Georgia and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the Black Sea region and its role in the Middle Corridor. She added that construction is progressing according to schedule.

“Anaklia Deep Sea Port is of major importance for both Georgia and the region. We are carrying out the works according to the schedule, and the port will be operational by 2029,” Ioseliani said.

Dredging is currently underway at the site. The second dredger, Al-Idrisi, has joined Tristao Da Cunha in operations at the future port’s maritime area.
