Roman Kakulia, the former chairman of the Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament and currently the founder of the non-governmental organization "Political Choice" says, that Anaklia Port Construction is associated with certain risks.
"I have been observing investors, both potential and incoming, for a long time, and three factors are highlighted worldwide. The government should think about it seriously - one is the energy sector and green economy, so resources should be invested in knowledge and technologies because energy is gaining a lot of importance... The Black Sea electric cable project is very important, so if this <construction of Anaklia Port> is not hindered by geopolitical threats, of course, there has always been a desire for this and it will be done, but I repeat once again, economy without politics does not exist", - Roman Kakulia says.
In addition, Kakulia notes, that he doesn't exactly know if there is a chance to start construction of Anaklia Port.
"In today's reality, I cannot say exactly. In my opinion, starting the construction of Anaklia Port right now is associated with certain risks, until it is not clear where Georgia stands in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and if we have to rely on the American guarantee like Ukraine, it will be very dangerous", - Roman Kakulia says.
