Tbilisi City Hall has announced plans to build a new multifunctional sports and recreation center in the Vake district, on the Tskneti highway. Mayor Kakha Kaladze, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Andria Basilaia and Head of the Department of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Irakli Gvilava, visited the site in the Begebi settlement, where the project will be developed.
The new center will feature a wide range of facilities, including an indoor football field, two padel courts, a fitness center, and an outdoor swimming pool with a movable roof. Notably, this will be the first time that the capital city will have such a pool. Plans also include indoor basketball courts, other sports areas, and recreation spaces, with a food facility integrated into the complex.
Kaladze stressed that the multifunctional project is designed to create a modern and inclusive environment for residents. He emphasized that the existing greenery will be preserved, and the surrounding area will be developed into a park space, ensuring a balance between infrastructure and nature. “I am glad that a multifunctional sports and recreation center will be built in the capital, adapted to this space,” he said.
According to City Hall, the project will be managed by the Department of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs. The development will cover a total of 7,272 square meters, of which 4,494 square meters will be occupied by indoor facilities, providing a significant new hub for sports and leisure in the capital.
