Kakha Kaladze spoke about the shortage of personnel in the construction sector while presenting Tbilisi City Hall's project "Learn and Get Employed". According to him, the process of visa liberalization with the European Union also contributes to the labor migration.
"I have daily contact with the construction sector, because we implement many projects in the capital, and I can say that there is a serious problem regarding the lack of personnel in this direction. I mean qualified and professional personnel. It should also be noted that there is a large rate of labor force outflow. A person has a desire to go to Europe and have a higher salary. They get GEL 2,000 GEL in Georgia, while in Europe they will take EUR 2,000 and more. Of course, a person has a desire to go and develop there", Kaladze said.
The City Hall program "Learn And Get Employed" was launched in 2018. The purpose of the program is to train and promote the employment of job-seeking citizens through short-term professional courses. The aim of the program is to retrain citizens in the professions that are high in demand and help them to find employment, incudling construction, engineering, food technology and other directions.
