APM Terminals Poti Records 18% Growth in Container Handling in 2025

APM Terminals Poti significantly increased its cargo turnover in the first eight months of 2025, handling 432,216 TEU containers, an 18% rise compared to the same period in 2024 (365,680 TEUs).

According to the company, the number of container ships received also rose by 12%, with 239 vessels handled this year versus 213 ships in the same period of 2024.

General Cargo Growth

The terminal also reported strong growth in other categories:

  • General cargo: 191,561 tons processed in 2025, up 40% from 136,852 tons in 2024.
  • Ferry cargo: 113,060 tons received in 2025, up 20% compared to 93,892 tons in 2024.
  • Car containers: 13,601 units processed in 2025, compared to 12,892 in 2024.
  • Cars in total: 53,226 units handled in 2025, up from 52,405 in 2024.

APM Terminals noted that the steady growth across containerized and general cargo reflects the company’s strengthened position as Georgia’s key Black Sea logistics hub and its ability to meet rising demand for regional trade flows.
