On Tuesday, September 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a statement at the "YEREVAN DIALOGUE 2024" summit, emphasizing the importance of the "Crossroads of Peace" project for the development of regional communications.

According to Pashinyan, this project opens new opportunities for Armenia, particularly by establishing a railway connection with Iran, which holds strategic significance for the country. Additionally, the project envisions railway links with Turkey, Europe, and Russia.

The Prime Minister noted that not only Armenia but also Azerbaijan would benefit from the implementation of the project, as it would enable Azerbaijan to establish rail connections with Turkey and Iran. Pashinyan particularly highlighted the importance of establishing road and rail links with Nakhichevan, stating Armenia’s readiness to provide such transportation access.

Earlier, BMG reported that in late October 2023, Armenia presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project, which essentially is the Armenian version of a project aimed at unlocking communications in the region after the 44-day war. From Yerevan's point of view, this is one of the components of the process of establishing a durable peace in the South Caucasus, and if implemented, it could change Armenia's status, helping it to emerge from isolation and become a logistical hub in the region.
