On Monday, September 23, Armenia took a significant step towards strengthening its cooperation with the European Union in the field of criminal justice.

Armenia’s Minister of Justice, Grigor Minasyan, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, and Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran signed a working agreement on the implementation of a cooperation treaty between Armenia's competent authorities and Eurojust.

Grigor Minasyan highlighted the importance of this event: "Today, we complete a critical phase of the agreement with Eurojust. This takes our fight against transnational crime to a new level, providing cooperation with leading structures and new tools in combating crime."

A key aspect of the agreement is data sharing. The minister emphasized the need to align Armenia’s databases with high standards of security and information protection.

Another significant point of the agreement was the decision to appoint a prosecutor for cooperation issues with Eurojust. This representative will participate in Eurojust’s College meetings, working groups, strategic discussions, and programs.

Eurojust President Ladislav Hamran remarked, "Today, you become the 14th non-EU member state to join Eurojust. This means you can send a coordinating prosecutor to our headquarters in The Hague."

Earlier, BMG reported that on September 9, Armenia and the EU announced the start of dialogue on visa liberalization. The goal of this process is to support Armenia in establishing a visa-free regime for short-term travel to EU countries, ensuring the necessary conditions for effectively managed mobility and security.
