Armenia and Georgia Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation

On Monday, September 2, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, held a meeting with a delegation from Georgia led by the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze.

The Georgian delegation arrived in Yerevan to participate in a joint meeting of the standing committees on foreign relations of the parliaments of both countries.

During the meeting, Alen Simonyan highlighted the deepening relations between Armenia and Georgia. He proposed the development of new formats to enhance parliamentary contacts between the two countries, a suggestion that was positively received by the Georgian side.

Nikoloz Samkharadze thanked his Armenian counterpart for the warm welcome and supported the proposal to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation. Discussing regional issues, he emphasized that Georgia supports the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The parties also discussed various aspects of the bilateral agenda and issues of regional interest.
