In 2024, relations between Armenia and Georgia reached a new qualitative level. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced this at a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart in Yerevan on January 30, during the working visit of a delegation led by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to Mirzoyan, the signed declaration on strategic partnership opens new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, educational, scientific, and humanitarian spheres. "Although our relations have historically always been strategic, this new document creates an additional legal framework for deepening cooperation,"the Armenian Foreign Minister noted.

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili emphasized that the strategic partnership between the two countries has great potential for further expansion.

"We are pleased to have a strategic partnership. It has significant potential for further expansion and deeper content. We will actively foster our partnership to represent our region and our bilateral interests in the international community.

The existing cooperation we have is built on a fundamental basis, and we are committed to further enhancing the level of our strategic partnership," added the Georgian Foreign Minister.

During the meeting, special attention was given to regional cooperation and transit transportation. "The South Caucasus, including Armenia and Georgia, has immense potential. When discussing transit through the South Caucasus, it is also essential to mention Azerbaijan's role," added Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

BMG recalls that in January 2024, Armenia and Georgia signed a strategic partnership agreement.

The governments of both countries declared their commitment to developing trade and economic relations. It was noted that trade relations between Georgia and Armenia are progressing, with mutual trade turnover exceeding $1 billion. According to Georgian sources, around 1 million Armenian tourists visited Georgia last year.
