Trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and Iran may be set to reach new heights. According to Armenia’s Statistical Committee, mutual trade volume in the first nine months of this year exceeded $520 million, marking a 2.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Ali Beman Eghbalizar, Head of Eurasia Research at Iran’s Center for Political and International Studies, noted that bilateral relations are showing dynamic growth across all areas. "Since 2020, trade turnover between the two countries has doubled or even tripled, reaching $700 million," Eghbalizar said in an interview with Armenian Public Television.

Previously, Armenia’s Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, announced plans to increase this figure to $1 billion in the near term and ultimately to $3 billion. Statistics show a positive trend: Armenian exports to Iran from January to September grew by 7.7%, reaching $81.2 million, while imports rose by 2.4%, amounting to about $450 million.

Experts emphasize that Iran attaches special importance to the South Caucasus as a key geopolitical region, which provides Iran with access to the Black Sea.
