Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan held a meeting with an Iranian delegation led by Ara Shahverdyan, head of the Iran-Armenia Friendship Group in the Majlis. According to the Ministry of Economy's press service, the discussions focused on prospects for deepening economic ties between the two nations.
Welcoming the Iranian delegation, Minister Papoyan highlighted the strong economic relationship between Armenia and Iran and emphasized the importance of taking practical steps to increase trade turnover and expand areas of collaboration.
The meeting paid special attention to potential cooperation in industry, agriculture, and tourism. Minister Papoyan outlined Armenia's existing state support mechanisms for economic development and expressed readiness to facilitate foreign investment projects in the country.
To strengthen ties between the private sectors of both countries, Papoyan proposed regularly organizing business forums to promote joint projects and foster close interaction. To develop tourism potential, he suggested arranging familiarization visits for media representatives from both nations.
A key topic of discussion was Armenia's potential involvement in Iran's Chabahar Port, which could open new avenues for enhancing trade and economic relations between the two countries.
