Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan met with a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Mohammad Mohammadi-Bakhsi, Director of the Civil Aviation Organization.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the meeting discussed cooperation in the aviation sector, including aircraft technical maintenance, training of specialists, increasing flights between the two countries, and developing transit routes.
The parties agreed on close cooperation for sharing experiences, inviting representatives of the Armenian aviation authority to Iran to explore the potential of Iranian aviation organizations.
Earlier, the Iranian side expressed readiness to provide Armenian companies with access and favorable conditions at its ports. On these matters, the parties are preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding, after which Iran will present proposals on the terms of port operation.
Following this, practical discussions will begin on which ports can expect preferential treatment for Armenian goods, said Vardan Kostanyan, Armenia's trade attaché in Iran at the time.
BMG reminds that at the end of 2023, Yerevan and Tehran agreed to eliminate road tolls for trucks. These tolls are levied when crossing the border.
According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, in 2023, Armenia's trade turnover with Iran amounted to 692,496.8 thousand dollars, decreasing by 2.5% compared to 2022.
