During a meeting between Lusine Gevorgyan, Chair of Armenia's Tourism Committee, and Cornel Ionescu, Romania's Ambassador to Armenia, the two sides discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in tourism and highlighted the growth in mutual tourist flows between the countries.
According to Armenia's Statistical Committee, 1,915 Romanian tourists visited Armenia from January to September 2024, marking a 10.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
The discussions placed particular emphasis on visa regulations and the travel preferences of tourists from both nations. Both parties acknowledged the significant potential for further development of tourism between Armenia and Romania.
The head of the Armenian Tourism Committee and the Romanian ambassador agreed on taking specific measures to encourage mutual tourism growth.
According to the Tourism Committee, Armenia welcomed approximately 1.93 million tourists from January to October 2024. The majority of visitors came from Russia, accounting for 43% of the total, followed by tourists from Georgia (11%) and Iran (7%).
