Armenia's Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan held a meeting on April 29 with the World Bank's Executive Director Eugene Rhuggenaath, who represents a group of countries, including Armenia.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Armenia, Hovhannisyan expressed his gratitude to Rhuggenaath for effectively representing Armenia's interests in the World Bank's Board of Governors and for supporting Armenian positions in discussions concerning the country.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current progress and possible directions for the development of programs supported by the World Bank in Armenia, as well as outlined ways to expand cooperation, including the launch of new programs.

Both sides agreed to continue effective cooperation to achieve the set goals.

The World Bank (WB) is one of the largest creditors of the Republic of Armenia.

In 2023, Armenia approved an agreement with the World Bank to attract a loan of 92.3 million euros to replenish the budget. The loan is tied to reforms in environmental and anti-corruption policies, as well as human resource development.
