During the spring meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) in Washington, a delegation led by the Minister of Finance of Armenia, Vahe Hovhannisyan continues its meetings with international partners.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Armenia, last week, meetings were held with the Vice President of the World Bank, Antonella Bassani, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF, Jihad Azour, as well as with senior representatives of other international organizations and institutions, such as the European Investment Bank and the US Treasury.
A wide range of issues related to the expansion and deepening of cooperation between Armenia and its international partners were discussed at the meetings. The upcoming annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Yerevan was also discussed. In particular, the Armenian side confirmed annual invitations for participation addressed to relevant representatives of partner countries.
Discussions on cooperation in the international capital market were a significant part of the meetings. During the meetings with representatives of Morgan, Citi, and Morgan Stanley, questions regarding the economic situation in Armenia and prospects for future cooperation were addressed.
Earlier, BMG reported that the IMF improved its economic growth forecast for Armenia for 2024 from the previous 5% to 6%. However, IMF economists warn of a slowdown in growth rates in 2025, expecting it to be at 5.2%.
