According to a statement from the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held talks with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Joshua Huck on September 19. The meeting focused on bilateral relations and regional issues, marking a significant step in the ongoing strategic dialogue between the two nations.
The talks covered plans to deepen political dialogue and enhance cooperation across various sectors, with a particular focus on promoting bilateral trade. Both parties emphasized the importance of joint efforts to elevate their relationship to a strategic partnership level.
Minister Mirzoyan highlighted the recent intensification of Armenia-US relations, noting: "The relations between our countries have recently been evolving with intensive dynamics, enriched by new dimensions, building on strategic dialogue. We are keen to further enhance our active engagement in various domains."
Regional issues were also on the agenda, including the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Mirzoyan stressed the importance of avoiding artificial obstacles in finalizing the peace treaty, which has been under negotiation for two years. The Armenian Foreign Minister reiterated Armenia's interest in unblocking regional communications based on established principles.
Earlier, BMG reported that political contacts between the U.S. and Armenia have intensified sharply in recent times. This was confirmed at the recent strategic dialogue session on June 11, which concluded with the adoption of a joint statement, opening new horizons for cooperation.
According to the document, trade between the two countries has quadrupled since 2020. The parties discussed issues related to sanctions and the control of high-tech exports. Special attention was given to projects aimed at ensuring food and energy security, including the development of nuclear energy and renewable energy sources.
