The Armenian government has established a quota for the duty-free import of 8,000 electric vehicles in 2025. This decision, approved during a cabinet meeting on November 28, aims to regulate imports with zero customs duties. According to the resolution, the annual quota is set at 8,000 vehicles with electric engines.
The quota is divided into two categories. A total of 5,000 vehicles are allocated for import by individuals, sole proprietors, and legal entities that lack direct dealership agreements with manufacturers. The remaining 3,000 vehicles are reserved for official dealers who hold direct contracts with automotive manufacturers.
To qualify under the second category, companies must provide valid dealership or distributor agreements with manufacturers, documents confirming warranty and post-warranty service obligations, and proof of operational service centers, including ownership or lease agreements and photographic evidence. Importers are not allowed to use quotas from both categories simultaneously.
Those without dealership agreements cannot claim the quota for official dealers, and official dealers cannot access the quota allocated to other importers.
