Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Armen Simonyan, met with a delegation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman on May 7th, led by Director of Air Transport Salim Hamed Al Husein.
According to an official statement, the deputy minister emphasized the importance of developing relations with Oman in various fields, especially in tourism and aviation. Mihran Khachatryan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee, who was present at the meeting, noted that Oman has significant tourism potential, and deepening cooperation would be mutually beneficial for Armenia.
In this context, the necessity of organizing direct flights between the two countries was expressed. Salim Hamed Al Husein confirmed his country's readiness to deepen cooperation in the field of air transport.
During the meeting, details of a bilateral agreement planned to be signed in the future were discussed.
Earlier, BMG reported that in the first quarter of 2024, the number of serviced flights at the two main airports in Armenia, in Yerevan and Gyumri, decreased by 14%. Despite this, the passenger flow remained almost unchanged, remaining at the level of the previous year's figures - 1.04 million passengers (a decrease of 0.02%).
