Armenia will retain a preferential quota for the import of 8,000 electric vehicles in 2025 but will modify the distribution mechanism.

According to Armenpress, Emma Movsisyan, Head of the Trade and Integration Department at the Ministry of Economy, announced that 5,000 vehicles will be allocated to individuals, legal entities, and sole proprietors, while the remaining 3,000 will be reserved for companies holding dealership and distribution agreements.

Movsisyan noted that tariff exemptions for electric vehicle imports have been in effect for several years. However, under the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union, the number of electric vehicles imported to Armenia under the preferential regime cannot exceed 8,000 units annually.

The main supplier countries for electric vehicles in Armenia are the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and China. Notably, the market share of Chinese electric vehicles has been steadily increasing in Armenia.

Most imported vehicles are from the 2022–2024 production years, offering longer operational lifespans due to their relatively newer batteries.
