The Armenian government has introduced amendments to its tax legislation aimed at supporting the agricultural sector. This new initiative extends the corporate tax exemption for agricultural producers for an additional two years.
At an extraordinary session of the National Assembly on December 5, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan presented a draft law to amend the Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia. Under the current legislation, the corporate tax exemption for agricultural producers is set to expire at the end of this year. The proposed law seeks to extend this benefit until December 31, 2026.
According to the Minister of Economy, the initiative aligns with the priorities of the government’s agricultural policy outlined in the Agricultural Sector Development Strategy for 2020–2030, approved in 2019.
The proposed changes aim to enhance key agricultural policy priorities, including the consolidation of land parcels and optimization of tax policies. These measures are expected to boost the competitiveness of Armenia's agricultural sector.
The relevant committee of the National Assembly has already issued a positive conclusion on the draft law, significantly increasing its likelihood of adoption by parliament.
