The Armenian government will develop a subsidy program for slaughterhouses to ensure high-quality livestock processing ahead of the New Year holidays. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan announced this initiative during the parliamentary Q&A session on December 4.
The program includes partial compensation for livestock processing costs and leasing support for purchasing equipment. According to the minister, this aligns with international practices. In August, the government approved a plan for the development of the agri-food sector, which includes expanding the network of slaughterhouses and enhancing their technological capabilities.
Addressing criticism about insufficient infrastructure in rural areas, Papoyan emphasized that the state is prepared to cover a substantial portion of the initial costs for acquiring equipment and to subsidize interest rates on leasing agreements.
In August, the Armenian government approved updated conditions for the agri-food sector’s development. The initiative aims to expand the country’s slaughterhouse network and improve the technological infrastructure of agri-food enterprises.
