The Ministry of Economy of Armenia, in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and international consulting firm Ernst & Young, is launching a study on the competitiveness of the country's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The study aims to identify growth potential and development opportunities for SMEs, as well as to pinpoint key challenges facing this sector of the economy. Special attention will be given to four priority industries for Armenia's economy: food and beverage production, textile, apparel, and leather manufacturing, pharmaceutical and technology production, and computer programming and consulting services.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the results of the study will serve as a foundation for the development of effective policies and support programs aimed at enhancing the resilience and productivity of Armenia's SMEs, as well as expanding their export potential.

One possible outcome of the project could be the establishment of an SME Competitiveness Enhancement Center in Armenia. This center is expected to provide support to businesses, facilitate knowledge exchange, and develop growth strategies tailored to the changing needs of the sector.
