A large-scale project to improve water supply and sewage systems will cover 63 communities in Armenia, providing high-quality water to 75,000 residents.

On October 16, Sarkis Baghinyan, Director of Armenia’s Territorial Development Fund, met with representatives of the German development bank KfW to discuss the progress of a major infrastructure project in the water supply sector.

The "Armenia Water Supply and Wastewater Infrastructure" project, valued at €70.44 million, is being financed with the support of KfW, the European Investment Bank, the European Union, and the Government of Armenia.

During the meeting, they discussed the progress of the project, which covers 63 communities and settlements in seven marzes (regions) of Armenia: Shirak, Lori, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, Kotayk, and Syunik.

The primary goal of the project is to ensure round-the-clock, high-quality water supply to 75,000 residents in these regions.

The project includes the reconstruction of water supply and sewage systems, which will minimize water losses, reduce operational costs, and lower energy consumption.

This initiative will not only improve the quality of life for local residents but also make a significant contribution to the environmental sustainability of the regions, according to the statement.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the progress of the construction of the Kaps Reservoir, which is also co-financed by KfW and the Government of Armenia.
