Armenia ranked 82nd out of 143 countries in terms of happiness level, according to the "World Happiness Report 2024," compiled with the participation of the United Nations. The study also highlights the positions of other countries in the region: Georgia - 91st, Turkey - 98th, Iran - 100th, Azerbaijan - 101st, and Russia - 72nd.
The research by the American Institute Gallup is based on six key factors, including GDP per capita, social support, health, freedom, generosity, and corruption level. Happiness scores in each country are based on population opinions.
According to the report, Finland has been recognized as the happiest country in the world for the seventh consecutive time. Denmark and Iceland follow suit. Afghanistan, Lebanon, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are considered the least happy countries.
The theme of the 2024 report is happiness at different stages of life. Surveys show that in Western Europe and North America, young people feel less happy than the elderly. It is also noted that for the first time in 12 years, the United States did not enter the top twenty and ranked 23rd due to deteriorating happiness indicators among young people. Their level of happiness has been declining rapidly since 2006.
In contrast, in the post-Soviet space and in East Asia, the level of happiness among people of all ages has increased.
