The consulting agency Modex, referencing the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) AI Preparedness Index, released data on countries’ readiness for artificial intelligence adoption. As of 2023, Armenia ranked 70th out of 165 countries with a score of 0.49, while Georgia secured the 57th position.

Armenia outperformed Kyrgyzstan (0.43), Belarus, and Azerbaijan (both scoring 0.47). However, it lags significantly behind nations such as Estonia (0.76), Spain and Portugal (0.65 each), the UAE (0.63), and Romania (0.58).

The AI Preparedness Index evaluates a country’s ability to adapt to and leverage AI technologies based on several key factors. These include the development of digital infrastructure, the quality of human capital, labor market policies, innovation potential, economic integration, and regulatory frameworks.

The findings highlight the need for Armenia to strengthen its digital infrastructure and train specialists in AI to enhance its competitiveness in this strategically critical field.
