Armenia is prepared to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey and open their shared border to citizens of third countries and those holding diplomatic passports, announced Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at a joint press conference in Tallinn with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna on June 27.

"Armenia is ready to fully normalize relations with Turkey, establish diplomatic relations, and open the borders. In our dialogue with Turkish colleagues, we have reached a clear agreement on opening the borders and outlined steps that can be taken for the full normalization of relations," Mirzoyan noted.

The minister emphasized that Yerevan consistently reaffirms its commitment to implementing agreements on opening the border for third-country citizens and for Armenian and Turkish citizens holding diplomatic passports. "I sincerely believe that the time has come to realize this agreement," Mirzoyan added.

In May 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that Yerevan seeks to reduce and cease hostile relations with Turkey. In June, Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan highlighted the importance of fully restoring diplomatic relations between their countries.
