Armenia records 12-month deflation of 0.1% in July

Armenia's 12-month consumer price index (CPI) in July 2023 was down 0.1%, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said.

It said also that 1% price drop was recorded in July this year compared to June of the same year. Prices increased by 3.6% in January-July 2023 compared to the same period of 2022.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased 3.9% in July 2023 compared to July 2022. Compared to June 2023 they were down 2.8%.

Alcohol and tobacco products were up 8.5% in July year-over-year and 0.6% compared to June 2023. Clothing and footwear prices were up 4.8% yoy in July 2023 and down 0.8% compared to June 2023. Utilities were up 1.6% and down 0.1% respectively. Household goods and appliances rose 5.4% in July year-over-year and 0.5% from June 2023.

Health care prices rose 3.6% in July and dropped 0.4% compared to June 2023. Transportation prices registered a 1.7% decline and 2.4% rise from June 2023.

Communications prices declined 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. Recreation and culture services upped 2.7% and dropped 0.5% respectively, education prices rose 4.7% and remained unchanged as opposed to June 2023, restaurants and hotels prices were 5.5% and 0.2% respectively, while services were up 3.9% and 0.1% respectively.

Prices of non-food goods in July 2023 were up 0.3% when compared to July last year. They were down 0.1% compared to June 2023, ARKA reports.
