Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that the country's government does not hesitate to criticize the activities of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) if the opportunity arises. However, he added that criticism is not the goal in itself, and authorities will not voice remarks without substantial grounds.
Pashinyan made these statements at a press conference held on May 7, responding to a question about whether he is concerned about possible critical remarks towards the EAEU.
"For us, criticism of the EAEU's activities can be purposeful if there are appropriate grounds. We will not criticize just for the sake of it. This is a fundamental position that we adhere to in other situations," emphasized the Prime Minister.
Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in January 2015.
Within the EAEU, the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor is guaranteed, as well as the implementation of coordinated or unified economic policies. These measures are defined by the Treaty on the EAEU dated May 29, 2014, and international agreements within the Union.
