The Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia held a meeting with a delegation from the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Partnership, discussing the expansion of cooperation in climate policy.
On October 15, Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan met with a delegation led by Pablo Vieira, Global Director of the NDC Partnership Support Unit. The meeting focused on strengthening Armenia’s cooperation with the NDC Partnership in implementing its national climate agenda, ahead of submitting the next NDC under the Paris Agreement.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration between Armenia and the NDC Partnership, considering the range of financial and technical tools available to member states under the partnership.
The discussion covered a wide array of topics, including food security challenges in the context of climate change and possible solutions, the need to implement “smart” climate agriculture practices, ongoing agricultural efforts to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change, and ways to expand these initiatives.
Particular attention was given to the importance of integrating climate actions in the agricultural sector into Armenia’s next NDC.
The NDC Partnership, established in 2016 as an international climate coalition, brings together more than 130 developed and developing countries and 100 international organizations. Its goal is to develop and implement ambitious climate agendas and actions to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Armenia joined the NDC Partnership in August 2018.
