According to official sources, Armenia is preparing to participate in two major international events in 2024: the BRICS Summit and the informal CIS Summit.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan announced that the country will take part in the BRICS Summit, which will be held from October 22 to 24, 2024, in Kazan.
BRICS, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, recently expanded to include Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Notably, Azerbaijan has also expressed interest in joining the organization, while Turkey, according to Bloomberg, has submitted an application to join BRICS and will participate in the upcoming summit.
Safaryan also confirmed Armenia’s participation in the informal Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Summit. The exact format of Armenia’s involvement will be announced at a later date.
According to Russian media, citing Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the informal CIS Summit is planned to take place in Moscow on the eve of the Victory Day parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in May 2024.
