Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated at the International Security Forum in Warsaw that Yerevan is carefully assessing all risks associated with the possible withdrawal of the country from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
"Stability is a priority, and any process that may occur must be well-calculated and managed. It’s about managing risks," Mirzoyan noted in response to a question about the possibility of Armenia leaving the CSTO.
Relations between Armenia, Russia, and the CSTO have significantly deteriorated, particularly following the escalation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in September 2022.
After failing to receive support from the CSTO, Yerevan rejected the organization's offer to deploy observers along the border. In 2024, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia's membership in the CSTO is de facto frozen and may be formally suspended if the allies do not change their stance.
