At a press conference dedicated to summarizing the first 100 days in office, Armenian Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan announced the ministry's intention to open a technology attaché office in Silicon Valley (USA).
Minister expressed confidence in the successful implementation of this intention and emphasized that such a step would enable Armenia to tap into global technological resources, promote international cooperation, accelerate the development of innovative technology centers, and help Armenia take its place on the global stage in the field of high technology.
He also touched upon the "Engineering City" project, noting that in case of funding cessation by the World Bank, the ministry is prepared to complete the program using state budget funds. Construction works are ongoing, the minister said.
"As the Iranian company is the contractor of the project, I have met with the Iranian ambassador to Armenia twice exclusively regarding the future of this project. We have appealed to our Iranian colleagues to support us and facilitate a dialogue with the contracting company to expedite the completion of construction works and the commencement of activities of technological engineering companies in this area," he explained.
Regarding the "National Supercomputer Center" project, the minister noted that this engineering supercomputer will also be deployed on the territory of the Engineering City.
"A significant amount of work was completed in the first quarter, and it is planned that the installation and connection of the supercomputer will be completed in the near future, specifically by the end of April," said Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
