Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi. The main topic of their discussion was the bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service, both ministers expressed their readiness to continue efforts to strengthen friendly ties and partnerships in areas of mutual interest. Future plans were also discussed during the conversation.

Special attention was given to Iran's stance on the issue of Armenia's territorial integrity. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that the Armenian side highly values Iran's firm position on the inviolability of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.

Previously, Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, stated that the export of Iranian gas to Armenia would soon double. A year ago, Armenia and Iran extended the "Gas for Electricity" agreement until 2030. Tehran annually exports 360 million cubic meters of gas to Armenia, in exchange for electricity imports.

In the trade sector, the trade turnover with Armenia increased to $711 million in 2023. Additionally, 400 trucks travel between Iran and Armenia daily.
