On November 15, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan met with Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut in Yerevan. The meeting was also attended by Armenian Deputy Ministers of Economy Arman Khojoyan and Narek Hovakimyan, as well as Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy, the discussions focused on increasing trade turnover between the two countries, ensuring food security, organizing the export of agricultural products, developing pedigree livestock farming, acquiring vaccines for livestock, exporting alcoholic beverages, and the use of pesticides in crop cultivation.
Welcoming the Russian delegation, Papoyan emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the realm of food security. Both parties expressed their readiness to take further steps to deepen collaboration in the agricultural sector.
Earlier, BMG reported that Russia consistently maintains its leadership in trade volumes with Armenia. In January–September of this year, trade turnover with Russia nearly doubled, reaching over $9.7 billion. At the same time, exports to Russia fell by 15.5%, dropping from last year’s $2.8 billion to $2.4 billion in the first nine months of 2024. Conversely, imports from Russia increased 3.4 times, amounting to approximately $7.5 billion.
During the reporting period, Russia's share in Armenia's foreign trade structure also rose from 35.8% last year to 41.1%.
