A government delegation from Armenia, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, has arrived in the Russian capital to participate in the 23rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Russia.
The delegation includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan, Armenian Ambassador to Russia Gurgen Arsenyan, Deputy Minister of Economy Narek Hovakimyan, and Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Artur Martirosyan.
The visit precedes the informal CIS summit scheduled for December 25–26 in St. Petersburg. Notably, the summit is being held in Russia rather than in Yerevan, which currently holds the chairmanship of the organization. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan explained in parliament that this was his personal decision, emphasizing that "not all members of the EAEU Supreme Economic Council are desirable for Armenia."
On December 13, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Armenia is expected to attend the informal CIS summit in St. Petersburg. This announcement was made in Moscow during the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which was attended by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
