Armenian Deputy Finance Minister Holds Talks with IMF and World Bank Leadership on New Investments

During the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), negotiations were held involving economic leaders from various countries and senior officials from international financial organizations.

According to Armenia’s Ministry of Finance, Deputy Minister of Finance Eduard Hakobyan, who serves as Armenia’s alternate representative on the World Bank’s Board of Governors, held a series of important meetings. Notably, discussions were held with World Bank Vice President Antonella Bassani, IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, and other high-ranking officials from international financial institutions.

During these meetings, the Deputy Minister outlined Armenia’s strategic directions for economic development, presenting the country’s vision and development goals. Special focus was placed on addressing global financial challenges and mechanisms for ensuring economic stability.

Eduard Hakobyan provided a detailed overview of Armenia’s current socio-economic conditions, growth rates, and ongoing reforms. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of fostering investment, enhancing Armenia’s global market competitiveness, and strengthening social programs.

The IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings served as an effective platform not only for exchanging experiences and discussing global issues but also for establishing new partnerships. Discussions also focused on further support from international financial organizations for Armenia’s development processes.
